(SEOUL KR) : Hip-hop group Epik High has made history, becoming the first South Korean artists to conquer Apple's iTunes music charts in the U.S. and several other countries, according to local media reports on Thursday.

On the U.S. website, Epik High's new album "Epilogue" entered the hip-hop chart at No. 20 on the day of its release Tuesday and beat out world-famous musicians -- including Beastie Boys, Jay-Z and Black Eyed Peas -- to claim the No.1 spot the following day.

The record also placed atop iTunes hip-hop albums chart in New Zealand, made the top ten in several other countries including Japan, Australia and Canada, and placed in the top fifty albums in the U.K., France and Sweden.

Their sixth studio album "[e]" had entered the site's Top 100 of Hip-Hop/Rap chart in September 2009.

Epik High -- composed of Tablo, Mithra Jin and DJ Tukutz -- debuted in 2003 with the album "Map of the Human Soul". They gained popularity and critical acclaim with the success of their consequent albums "High Society" and "Swan Songs".

The group performed as a representative of K-pop music at the MIDEM (Marche International du Disque et de l'Edition Musicale) showcase in Cannes, France last year and was recently interviewed by CNN's prominent documentary program Talk Asia.

Epik High will soon kick off their promotion for their title single "Run".
