Beyond Hot : Big Bangโ€™s < Taeyang > to Launch Sultry New Solo Album โ€˜Solarโ€™ on iTunes Worldwide

(SEOUL KR) : K-Pop creative agency, DFSB Kollective, has just released details on the upcoming schedule of YG Entertainment’s latest Big Bang solo effort, Taeyang’s ‘Solar’.

On July 2nd, Taeyang will debut his silky smooth new R&B single, ‘I Need a Girl’ on iTunes Music Stores worldwide. By July 15th, he will roll out the international launch of his long awaited, full length album, ‘Solar’, complete with a special edition 15 page digital booklet and ‘I Need a Girl’ music video featuring Big Bang heartbreaker, G-Dragon, and 2NE1 starlet, Sandara Park.

Already all across Korea, Taeyang’s ‘Solar’ has totally eclipsed the music industry’s stellar expectations. As soon as it was released on July 1st, the album sold out in every offline music store nationwide in just 1 day and the demand has been so high online, multiple tracks off the album (‘I Need a Girl’, ‘You’re My’, ‘Just a Feeling’, ‘Superstar‘, ๋‹ˆ๊ฐ€ ์ž ๋“  ํ›„์— After You Sleep’) have lit up all the major digital music singles charts in Korea as well as caused some local internet music shops’ servers to crash due to the overwhelming number of orders.๏ปฟ

With Big Bang’s T.O.P cracking iTunes hip-hop/rap singles charts all around the world in June, look for fellow Big Bang bandmate, Taeyang, to seize the momentum and make his mark on global charts this July.

ABOUT GALAXY EXPRESS

Crowned by critics as the country’s loudest live band and fawned by fans as the nation’s best live band, the trippy wired trio of Galaxy Express have swiftly kicked and screamed their way out of the indie club circuit and onto the international festival scene to become the Republic of Korea’s renegade ambassadors of rock n roll.

With their scorching debut double album, ‘Noise on Fire’, the band snatched nods for Best Rock Single and Musician of the Year honors as well as swiped the sash and tiara for Best Rock Album of the Year at the 2009 Korean Music Awards. Known for their no-holds barred, knockout concert performances, they somehow found themselves starring as themselves in a rockumentary road movie called ‘Turn It Up to 11!’ which picked up the Best Korean Indie Feature Film prize at the 2009 Pucheon International Fantastic Film Festival and the Audience Award trophy at the 2009 Seoul International Film Festival.

Admired as an adventurous act both on and offstage, Galaxy Express has rumbled into 2010 armed with DIY ethos and loaded with WTF credos to produce one of the year’s most unconventional and unexpected album releases -- ‘Wild Days’.

After leaving their record label on March 1st (Korea’s Independence Day), the band boldly announced on April 1st (April Fool’s Day) that they had a crazy concept to start from scratch and produce a brand new album in just 30 days. Dubbed the ‘Wild 30’ Project (http://galaxy30.tistory.com), they tweeted and blogged their entire creative process in real time which in turn, spurred thousands of online fans to join them as interactive, inspirational collaborators on each and every track. Thanks to the constant flow of fans’ ideas and suggestions via social media networks, Galaxy Express gallantly delivered their ambitious experimental album, ‘Wild Days’, on May 1st (Korea’s Labor Day).

In promoting the worldwide launch of ‘Wild Days’ on iTunes Music Stores, Galaxy Express will be the first Korean artist to ever perform at the 2010 Music Matters Live showcase in Hong Kong (May 27/28/29). For Fall/Winter 2010, Galaxy Express is currently planning a North American movie and music tour.

<Epik High> 'Epilogue' Album Runs to #1 on iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap Album Chart

Epik High Tops Several iTunes Music Charts Overseas

By Lynn Kim

(SEOUL KR) : Hip-hop group Epik High has made history, becoming the first South Korean artists to conquer Apple's iTunes music charts in the U.S. and several other countries, according to local media reports on Thursday.

On the U.S. website, Epik High's new album "Epilogue" entered the hip-hop chart at No. 20 on the day of its release Tuesday and beat out world-famous musicians -- including Beastie Boys, Jay-Z and Black Eyed Peas -- to claim the No.1 spot the following day.

The record also placed atop iTunes hip-hop albums chart in New Zealand, made the top ten in several other countries including Japan, Australia and Canada, and placed in the top fifty albums in the U.K., France and Sweden.

Their sixth studio album "[e]" had entered the site's Top 100 of Hip-Hop/Rap chart in September 2009.

Epik High -- composed of Tablo, Mithra Jin and DJ Tukutz -- debuted in 2003 with the album "Map of the Human Soul". They gained popularity and critical acclaim with the success of their consequent albums "High Society" and "Swan Songs".

The group performed as a representative of K-pop music at the MIDEM (Marche International du Disque et de l'Edition Musicale) showcase in Cannes, France last year and was recently interviewed by CNN's prominent documentary program Talk Asia.

Epik High will soon kick off their promotion for their title single "Run".
